“Sitting down on my rocking red chair, knowing that he would eventually come, I started to worry. It was dark, and the only light I could see is the small beam of moonlight peeking through my window. A cold breeze made me shiver – an unmistakable sign that he was already here.

I could hear footsteps coming closer and closer, followed by a mild thug. I thought I dropped my book on the floor but I wouldn't dare check.

Then suddenly, a shadow came towards me. It walked along the red fuzzy carpet, knocking over my mother's lamp!

It was the Dark Shadow!

I knew that he would come. Halloween is his favourite night! He would steal everyone’s candy and throw them away in the junkyard! So evil!

I went outside the door, taking careful steps so that the Dark Shadow wouldn't hear and notice me. Wrong move! One more step and he was right in front of me!”

A long pause.

“There has to be more!” my brothers shouted desperately.

“Sadly, that’s all I could remember!” I said with a grin.  After that we all went to sleep with the lights on.

Booo!!!! Happy Halloween to all!

Hi it's me again! I made up this story almost three years ago for my little brothers. They love it so much, that I had to ask my mom to help me print it out like a book so that my brothers can read it any time.

Now, I am sharing it to all of you.  I just hope, your little ones will like it, too!

I woke up in this small bag, together with millions of my brothers and sisters, still wondering what it would feel like to go outside and live like one of you. Ever since I was created, I have drawn a plan in my head to get out of this situation. I don’t want to be like my siblings – waiting for “The Hand” to poke inside the bag and grab them firmly to finally gain their freedom. No, not me!

One day, while the sun is up, I saw a tiny hole. It was actually big enough for me to fit in. I took the chance of leaving. I took the risk. It was successful! I was finally outside!

The wind, then, blew me to a farm. There, I met a cow. I was guessing its name was Bessie because it’s what was written on her name tag. I asked her for directions but the cow treated me like I wasn’t there.  She ignored me!

Nearby, I saw a kid walking. I went in that direction to ask that kid where I am, but the kid acted like the cow. He didn’t notice me!

Then I saw the kid irritating a bird on a perch. The kid went away before I even got closer. I went to the bird and asked if she was okay. ‘Still didn’t notice me!

I felt really sad. Then I realized that perhaps to them, I’m just a speck – tiny and worthless.

It was Christmas and all the children hugged their brothers and sisters. I wish I could hug my brothers and sisters, too! But they are all still in Neverland. I decided to go back inside the tiny bag to see my brothers and sisters.

My siblings hugged me while asking all these questions - why I left, how I got back, and other stuff.  They were happy to see me back in the bag. We celebrated all night long.

The next day, I got picked up by "The Hand" and got thrown on Wendy. Suddenly, Wendy felt lighter and began to fly.  I realized now what happened to my siblings who got picked by “The Hand!” We can make people fly!

Wendy felt so happy to fly. I was, too.

To you, I may be just a speck, but to Wendy and my other friends in Neverland, I know that I am more. I am so happy to know that I’m not worthless at all.

Can You Guess What I Am?

Hi, I'm Alex and I wrote this short Cinderella scene from the mouse's point of view.

I'm hiding inside my house in Rat Town when I heard a sad cry.  I went outside to check who it was.  The voice sounded familiar to me.

"Cinderella is that you? Why are you crying?" I asked. She said nothing as if she didn’t notice that I was there.

She ran outside so I followed her. It was dark outside so I opened my lamp. I ran fast to catch up with her. That’s when I noticed that a few farm friends were also running with me.

Then suddenly a light came towards me. No, I was wrong! I thought it’s coming towards Cinderella! I quickly ran towards her to try to protect her. A big ball of light flashed in front of us. Wow! I thought it was the Prince, but I was wrong yet again!

It was a fat old lady with a spoon. The fat lady came towards Cinderella. She was singing and waving her spoon around.  Then she waved her spoon and pointed it to me! I got scared and started to run and tried to find a hiding place. TOO LATE!

She blasted a little light into my mouth. I had no choice but swallow it. Yuck! I could feel pins and needles on my legs. I began to grow bigger and bigger. I could see my mummy from here!

Oh no! My worst nightmare had come true! I turned into a human servant or as the fat lady says, the Coachman!

MY other friends turned into a horse or a pie. And finally, Cinderella…Wow! look at her! She looks beautiful with that long white and sparkly gown!

What a night!

I took this picture using my Mom's camera!
DAY 1

Sitting in the frostiness near the window, not knowing snow was tumbling behind me, when suddenly the door opened with a big, loud, "Yay, Alex! Snow is falling behind you!" It was my grandfather. I looked behind and suddenly froze like the snow on the ground - with heaps of excitement clambering up my spines. I stood up trying to hide my annoying laugh but what the heck?. I couldn’t help it!!! Hahahaha! I jumped and jumped. I was just so surprised!!!!! My Grandmother warned me, “Alex, if you go outside you will be in big trouble!” but I didn’t care! I told her this miracle only lasts for a little while but she still said “NO”.

Being the Alex that I am, I still went outside (heh). I got my winter clothes and my winter boots and was ready to set off but my brother, Nathan, wanted to go with me so badly that he tried to stop me from going outside! So I got him all his clothes and boots and we went off. When we were outside we played with the snow and our Grandpa took care of us.

It was starting to get dark but like I said, this does not happen very often so we still played and played until my pants got wet so I went inside. Of course, my brother followed.

”Ding Dong Ding Dong”

While inside, we heard the doorbell rang.  “I’ll get it” I said. Surprisingly, it was my Mum and Dad covered with snow on their backs. “Mum, Dad, did you walk? Where is the car?” I asked while occasionally peeking outside our house.  "Our car got stuck down the hill so we had to walk from West park school to here.  It is really a 1-km walk with just a thin layer of clothing...and our badminton shoes!” said my Mum. They hurried upstairs to get changed. I could already tell that they felt bitterly cold out there for they were just wearing jogging pants, t-shirts and thin jackets with a hood. My mum said that her legs went numb for a while and she couldn't feel them.

When I went up the stairs my mum said that we can go out and play with the snow again. I excitedly told my brothers about this. For a second, I thought that my youngest brother, Sam, couldn't go because he is too little and he might slip over. Lucky my Dad allowed him, but we have to take care of him.  When we were outside we took some pictures - no, not some... a lot! After that, we made a snowman in front of our neighbors house!!!!! Before going back home, we kicked and took our snowman down.

DAY 2

Early morning when we heard a loud thunder.  I woke up and literally forgot that there was snow.  I got excited when I looked outside my window and saw that the road was still full of snow! I wasn't dreaming! Snow's still here! I went downstairs and asked my dad if I am going to school that day.  He said No… I was a little excited knowing that I could play with snow all day….. Woooooooh! Think of it, just playing with the snow all day!! None of us were able to go to school or work because the road is dangerous to drive on..

But then, we still couldn't go outside to play.  The house was shaking because of the loud thunder and scary lightning.  We might get electrocuted!  We just stayed inside and watched Lord of the rings! It was awesome!  Around 5:30 pm, we literally had nothing to do so we decided to play poker - my Dad, my Mum, my Grandfather and me.

DAY 3

The weather got better this time - but thick snow still covered the roads and houses in my neighborhood. We still can't go to school or work - although we can go outside now to play and walk around. I heard my Mum saying that we will walk outside after breakfast and have a look around.  Then I felt my tummy rumbling.  It was a bad thing because I want to walk with them to Mt. Kaukau and play with my brothers there.  But I still needed and had to go! :)

After breakfast we got all our stuff and started walking excitedly to the mountains with gallons of snow on it. I thought to myself, 'Woah! Watch it there, dudes!', as some guys suddenly sprinted to the top of the mountain with a sled as if they were in Mt. Ruapehu ski field.

Actually, I thought it was fun, when I realized what they were doing. I started sprinting towards the top of the mountain (actually, it was just a hill! heh) when I saw heaps of snow being played with! Me and my brothers started playing with it too!

When we went home, we thought that what we did wasn't enough fun.  Snow in Wellington isn't here to stay!  We decided to do something at the deck - my mum and me.  We started making a snow lady!!! 'Talk about girl-bonding! It was so fun!

The next day all the snow was gone - not a single speck! Well, our snow lady was still there (which, I don't know for how long!). It was just like a normal school day, being late, as always!
